One of the coolest things about the Pali Canon is, in my opinion, the abundance of similes. They are mostly spot-on, and I think there is a good chance that they have been passed down directly from the Buddha's mouth without being altered much.
Is there a list or some sort of anthology of these similes?

"I don't envision a single thing that is as quick to reverse itself as the mind — so much so that there is no feasible simile for how quick to reverse itself it is."

Hey, I took flak for saying Ven. Buddhaghosa might have cooked something up...
SN 47.8 / PTS: S v 149 / CDB ii 1634
Suda Sutta: The Cook
"As a result, he is rewarded with clothing, wages, & gifts. Why is that? Because the wise, experienced, skillful cook picks up on the theme of his own master...
...the experienced, skillful monk picks up on the theme of his own mind."
