Hello from the land of Buddha!

Hi All

My name is Ashish, I am Indian, from the state of Kerala. Nice to meet all you Buddhist and meditators here. I have done 4 Goenka style retreats and serving in one. I am also interested in trying out other styles, particularly those with more emphasis on anapana. I hope all of you are doing well and may you all be happy!

OH, you are totally right, Robert!

Sorry, I had read "the home of the Buddha" which is quite obviously Nepal so I didn't quite get that the OP was from a place that is totally far and unrelated from the actual geographical home of the Buddha.

But in an esoteric sense, all of us are in the land of the Buddha now, if we take refuge in the triple gem, so in that sense I believe the OP is totally correct.

My suggestion is, imho, if SN Goenka style suits you, just go with that. It will take you very far.

That being said, if you want more emphasis on anapana in the light of vipassana, Webu Sayadaw would be one of the top suggestions.

If you want more emphasis on anapana in the light of jhanas I would recommend Pa Auk Sayadaw.

For many other great teachers, much more knowledgeable & experienced ones than me on DW are ready to help you, I am sure.

Thank you for your valuable suggestions, I personally feel if the anapana is strong then the vipassana becomes much more effective ( im sure all of you know that too )

Im eager to learn from all of you, everybody sounds very knowledgeble here, it feel as though i have a lot of watching up to do.

Your recommendation of webu sayadaw was a book? Or is there a monastery??

Yes Pa Auk Sayadaw looks like a fantastic place to learn, i hope to go there and practice soon.

It did, but the hindus got jealous and did their best to ruin it's presence, not much Buddhism now, except for a Goenka centre in chengannur , 2 more are coming up in wayanad and Trivandrum..So that's good news...
