Wisdom Publications sale: 40% off of all their books

Post by samseva »

Wisdom Publications has a 40% sale for all their books, which lasts from Nov. 23-26 (as well as their courses for $75).

If you're wondering how I know this, Wisdom Publications sends these out to their newsletter a few times per year.

Some of their best books (Bhikkhu Bodhi's translations of the Sutta Piṭaka, in print and digital, being the most important):

Please remember that the prices are in USD just in case you have to convert it to your local currency.
Consider delivery charge as well.

Ah, yes. For those who don't live in the US, the digital version of Bhikkhu Bodhi's translation of the Sutta Piṭaka are awesome to have—$40 instead of $75 compared to the hard copy, but $24 with 40% off.

Agree.
it is a good value.
I bought the four books when it was sale last time.
Now Sutta Central has the full translation in English and translations in many other languages.

It's also good to remember that when you buy the digital version not only are they DRM free (you can use them on any device) but they come with three formats: epub, mobi, and PDF. This is only true when you buy them through the Wisdom website.

Is it possible to copy text from their epubs?

I do it all the time. I usually use Linux tools for reading pdfs and epubs, but I just checked and the PDFs I purchased are copyable using Acrobat. The epubs are copyable from Calibre.

And, yes, shipping from the US to the rest of the world is expensive (and often slow). It's usually cheaper for me to buy from thebookdepository then from sales at American-based companies... But, as has been pointed out, electronic versions don't have this problem, and buying direct from Wisdom is the sensible thing to do. I got one of these books from Amazon a while ago, and it was only in Kindle, so annoying for me to use, so I bought it again from Wisdom and I can read using the PDF or the EPUB.
