suggestion: make this site better (i'm not badmouthing)

Post by dylanj »

a mod can insert my post they deleted here as the content which btw was civil & not badmouthing at all, altho the previous title maybe was
Born, become, arisen – made, prepared, short-lived
Bonded by decay and death – a nest for sickness, perishable
Produced by seeking nutriment – not fit to take delight in

Departure from this is peaceful – beyond reasoning and enduring
Unborn, unarisen – free from sorrow and stain
Ceasing of all factors of suffering – stilling of all preparations is bliss

There is no post visible, Dylan. You are very welcome to make the site better through your own posts, including those which advocate improvements, subject to the ToS. Your previous post was removed because it did not keep to the ToS, and won't be put back.

add a subforum for posting suttas
"Just as the ocean has a single taste — that of salt — in the same way, this Dhamma-Vinaya has a single taste: that of release."

Huh?
There's no point in duplicating what's already freely available.

Most of them are already online in decent translations, in which case all you need is a link.
Or do you mean posting suttas and personal commentaries? If so, they would be a good fit for the Theravada Discussion sub-forums.
Or something else?

what i mean is something like this (shameless plug) https://www.facebook.com/groups/490239124693523/
not really a discussion just sharing suttas and/or vinaya, i guess i could use the early buddhism subforum
"dhammic stories" is practically dead, would it be ok if we used that one

You mean a kind of "inspiring Buddha quotes" thread?

oh, well no i dont mean that
not a thread
for one, the buddha is the foundation of our whole religion, or it should be
but also the big huge threads are to me a huge mess, im surely not the only one who believes so
i can just start using shrine room/dhammic sayings/early buddhism the forum could use more topics that are not about debating

Sure, posting quotes is fine.

I prefer them in threads, so I know what they are, and can read them, or not, depending on my inclination on the day.

The Thanissaro thread viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13339 for example, would be really annoying if it were a bunch of separate one-post threads. As it is, it is a great resource for Thanissaro fans.
