Ringo has been knighted!

Post by alan » Sun Dec 31, 2017 2:36 am

Sir Ringo, we shall call him.
I love the Beatles. To me, they were the greatest band of all time.
It's because of the blend. They were greater than the sum of their individual parts.
True, Ringo was not a technically great drummer, but he had his own style. George was not the best guitar payer of all time, but he introduced new sounds. Like the 12 string, and the Sitar. And his harmonies sounded perfect when blended with the others.
John was a lousy guitar player, but he could come up with a riff, like Day Tripper". Also, could write a good song.
Paul was the best musician, no doubt. He could do everything. Left on his own, he tended towards sentimentality and over-sweetness. Good thing his mate had a nasty edge. John could cut down anyone. But had an introspective side.
So, that is why I love the Beatles. Now, lets hear a song where Ringo really hit a new level of drumming. One of my favorites. Just listen to Sir Ringo go at it. Inventive, unexpected, and perfectly wonderful

If I recall, he was once asked "are you the best drummer in the world?"

He replied...."I'm not even the best drummer in the beatles"

I do. And everyone who cares about good music, and the artistic genius of the Beatles should also care. Don't be a sh*thead.

Greetings Alan,

Should we celebrate with an old fashioned Beatles v Rolling Stones poll?

Metta,
Paul. :)

If you'd like, but the Beatles are so far better. Beatles have the Love, Beatles have the Art. Beatles have the Magic.

The Beatles in India
The Beatles' interest in the Maharishi was led by George Harrison's commitment,[1][2] and it changed Western attitudes about Indian spirituality and encouraged the study of Transcendental Meditation.[3]

Ringo was the funniest Beatle too, just watch them messing around in those old interviews which were conducted so formally.

Don't forget the influence of George Martin either, he played on numerous tracks and wrote much of the orchestral and backing parts.

My favourite band too!
