Would you say that this sums up Buddhism? At least, a pretty big chunk of it.A human being is part of the whole, called by us "Universe"; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.

Great quote by Einstein.
As with all quotes that are spread around, it might be dubious. But even if it is, I thought it was nice.

“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”

Re: Great quote by Einstein.
It's a popular quote from Einstein. It does certainly reflect the ideals of Buddhism.

Re: Great quote by Einstein.
But what writing of Einstein's is it actually from? There are all sorts of gnarly, groovy, nifty, neat, keen, and swell passages out there attributed to all sorts of people that are not by them at all, but they sure do sound good.Dugu wrote:It's a popular quote from Einstein. The source of that quote can be found in "Quantum Reality, Beyond the New physics", p.250.
