During the recent heavy weather, I've had the opportunity to watch all of you at work on deck and aloft. You don't know wood from canvas! And it seems you don't want to learn! Well, I'll have to give you a lesson.

Hi Pondera,Pondera wrote:"There is little aging men, sore backs, poverty, and malice gain through witless mounds. Poor men's backs break for shame until life is done. A solemn oath I take of abstinence from electronic slavery and its cost entertaining my physical denial of that which is real. Oath INTERNET abstinence. Life's torture beckons heralding the youth of sacralilium. Never does heart pass through days on end - a step into the abyss of a monkey counting sparkling gems by way of marks on a paper written in earth and nothing but."

personally, I cannot renounce the greatest invention of humankind since the printing press, but I wish you well also.

fought off a massive massive urge for porn today...it was an on and off struggle with me going to sleep (cannot sleep because of head buzzing with energy because of the celibacy/continence) and then getting up and surfing porn and again closing...did mindfulness...was barely able to put a lid on it...it was a battle of life and death for 1.5 hours before I just took a cold shower----everything is good..internet discipline has not been bad but not good either...devoting my extra time to a pet project (I am a comp sci student)....14 days of celibacy running.....this time target is 240 days---keep strong, live strong
and Oh yes I am doing a 24 hour fast to discipline myself....it would have been 72 hours if I had orgasmed

One good thing would be excellent access to the Dhamma and Buddhist forums.corrine wrote:Actually, the internet has given me a lot of good things.

Surely, there is literature and Buddhist groups but groups are hundreds kilometers away and books costs and might be inadequate.
Things have good and bad sides.

I've been away from forums such as Dhammawheel for ages (but not the internet as a whole, I need it for my job). For the last few weeks I've been watching but cannot figure out how to jump back in. It's as though everyone else has advanced in their knowledge of the Dhamma except me, and I've been left behind.

Do not feel this; imagine all the people who have yet to come across this path - they are still in an illusory state of 'suffering' and 'Pain'.... We may be likewise, but at least we now have a map!Mawkish1983 wrote:I've been away from forums such as Dhammawheel for ages (but not the internet as a whole, I need it for my job). Do not lament what is not, but rejoice in what is.
You will not be punished FOR your 'emotions'; you will be punished BY your 'emotions'.
Pay attention, simplify, and (Meditation instruction in a nutshell) "Mind - the Gap."
‘Absit invidia verbo’ - may ill-will be absent from the word. And mindful of that, if I don't respond, this may be why....

Oh, I'm not lamenting. One of the reasons why I stopped using DW is that I upset too many people accidentally; the main reason being that text is all too often misunderstood without the subtleties of language that cannot be portrayed in text alone.
