What is your favorite English word?

Post by Benjamin » Sun Oct 06, 2013 2:13 am

Consider this a thought experiment more than anything, I just find it an interesting thing to ponder.

You could also elaborate on why you chose that word, if you feel so inclined.

My choice has been, mostly for the irony of it, "silence".

The word "curmudgeon" always makes me smile. It's a person with a bad temper. I enjoy it because it sounds like its definition. And it sounds silly, just like having a bad temper!

I think I could be partial to an Irish Chownah. Couldn't be an worse than the transplanted Chownah.

Scrumptious. It's used in a ridiculously funny line on Seinfeld.
He turns his mind away from those phenomena, and having done so, inclines his mind to the property of deathlessness: 'This is peace, this is exquisite — the resolution of all fabrications; the relinquishment of all acquisitions; the ending of craving; dispassion; cessation; Unbinding.'
(Jhana Sutta - Thanissaro Bhikkhu translation)
