Greetings and salutations!

Post by Vern Stevens »

Like many others, I'm relatively new to the Dharma. I'm doing a lot of reading and my primary interest in Buddhism are the Buddha's core teachings. I do not associate myself with a particular tradition at this point.

I previously associated myself with a philosophical point of view that is almost completely opposite Buddhism; very ego-centric. Please bear with me as adjusting is a gradual process.

Greetings Vern and welcome to Dhamma Wheel!
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
