Destitution

Beneath his brow, a boney mantle,
behind which hid his pride.
But when his mind did turn within,
from this it could not hide:
That where it had expected wealth
it found instead that pride had lied;
amassed were not the gems of virtue,
but many panes of polished glass.
And not having any wealth to take,
he now lies beneath the grass.

^^ I like that one.

"Dining With Delight"

Growing vines upon the wall
spreading fire's wild bloom,
the children never fearing shadows
dancing in the corner room.

Awake he yawns his crooked smile
cutting tightropes in the vines,
hid twisting fingers in the dial
stepping in and out of time.

We wear the masks
the Devils face,
dining here now in their place
a flicker of the candle sings and
gives us warmth till morning.

Dear Members,

Maitreya ..“loving-kindness.”
Image

The Buddha Gautama said that there are one thousand and one buddhas that will come into our world during the superior aeon. Among those, three buddhas have already come, so Gautama Buddha is the fourth. The next, or the fifth buddha, is known as Maitreya in Sanskrit, which means “loving-kindness.” Buddha Gautama spoke a lot about this future buddha in the Mahayana Maitreya Sutra. He said that Maitreya would realize buddhahood solely through the practice of loving-kindness.

******

Loving-kindness comes from the heart
Nobody forces it to flow
Just like rain from heaven
Pretty much like beautiful white snow

Hatred is like poison
Anger ruins your mind
If you collect hatred and anger
You'll be alone when you die

Jealousy, envy, grudge are not good
Metta, karuna, mudita..much better
Conceit, compete, compare..not very nice
Vanity, greed, delusion, arrogance..next to never!!

Metta, medicine for curing.. 'Aversion & Anger'
Kayagatasati, antidote for curing..'Attraction'
Anapanasati, complete..' Concentration Method'
4 Satipatthanas, 'Purification of Insight'.. for the wise ones!!

Look up

Gizmos and gadgets and do-dads abound
to give you more time on this side of ground.
But soon do you see that all that you have
has cost you so much that Death does but laugh.

Or, so you would see, if you did look around;
but its hard to look up when your toiling the ground.

Shattered

You’re too pale, Moon,
and appear to be shattered.
You’re hemorrhaging blue,
to the sky.

?>Dear Members,

This windy Monday is :candle: Makha Bucha (also Magha Puja) also known as "Sangha Day" celebrates when 1,250 Arahants met nine months after the Buddha's enlightenment and where the Buddha gave important Dhamma instructions.

Dubai picture from my daughter
Image

My daughter-team flew to Dubai
Very modern, exciting, beautiful city
Arabian people love American foods,Chinese,Thai
McDonald, KFC, PizzaHut..Apple Bee

May be world's biggest mall there
With gigantic aquarium, amusement park inside
Take 2 days to tour everywhere
But everything quite expensive..no surprise!

Amazing beach, blue-green sea-water..clean and clear
Skydivers show..very popular indeed
No bikini Arabian girls on the beach here
Even Arabian men on beach wrapped in white sheets!!

My daughter said Arabian girls have beautiful eyes
their jewelry designs are so pretty
She bought me Arabian ring..looks so fine
She said some exotic necklaces look so heavenly!

She bought herself Arabian bracelet and anklet
Her friends bought earrings and necklaces too
They tried to find a studio with Arabian costumes for taking pictures
But could not find....no can do

With this inform all critique

I now beseech your true critiques to flow
as many sudden rocks from mountain freed.
With one condition, if I may impose:
ahead of hated words, that love must lead,
as the ox-man a beastly charge does guide
who, not restrained, in town brings death and pain
yet yoked and chained can farmer’s yield enlarge!
Or when diverted stones leave him unslain,
a thankful one who finds his soul then changed:
Potential filled; flowed in from life reprieved,
filled not with voids and pains, yet rearranged
by ox and rocks without some love conceived!
So, tell me truths, though hateful to my ear
You must! Be kind, though, if you hold me dear.

EDIT: I revised this long ago but have only now thought to put that up instead.

(I had originally posted here, but on second thoughts, I will stick to penning music, which I can actually do, rather than attempting poems)

some lovely poems here, incidentally

“Courtyard Green”

Moonlit ferns beneath the floorboards
open the light from the other side's door
Hypnotizing glass revolves
and cracks the ice out on the shore

Every knot once tied, undone
the year's resplendent dance begun
Fields of wilting flowers bow and
wait in line for lanterns hung

The stable ground of the courtyard green,
never again to be seen.

Dear Members,

Years ago Tep went to a conference. One morning in Paris, Tep/I/our daughter went to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant and we heard this song :

:heart: Friday I'm In Love : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ4b99-aujI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I/daughter loved the song..when we came back to Texas, we bought the song and played it alot. We had fun touring Paris in the summertime, our guide spoke English with cute French accent..everybody liked him/tipped him well after the tour !

And today is Friday...I'm in love again!! I think the song is cute/funny

************

I love Buddhas' Bodhi Trees
Beautiful Ajjuna..for holy Anomadassi Buddha
Green leaves, cute flowers like Rajawadee
In my mom's garden beautiful as can be

(Rajawadee, sweet smell Thai flower)
----------
Exquisite Sona Tree..for great Narada Buddha
With pretty yellow golden shower flowers
Peridot-greenleaves dazzle viewers
Sona Trees absolutely bewitch tree lovers!

(Peridot, yellowish-olive-green gemstone)
---------
Buddhas: Mangala,Sumana, Revata, Sobhita..Naga Trees
White flowers with yellow buttons
Changing colors, green and pink to crimson
Smell so sweetly like.. 'Fascination'

(Fascination, a name of perfume)
---------
Sitting under the Salala Blue Pine Tree
Holy Padumuttara Buddha became enlightened
Long-leaved, evergreen Indian Pine
Native to.. Himalaya Mountains
--------
The great Phussa Buddha sat under Amalaka Tree
Green leaves, greenish-yellow fruits
Great for making medicines, sweet pickles sooth
Phussa Buddha realized the Noble Truth!

***********
 Would you believe that I love every minute searching for information about Bodhi Trees?

Dear Members,

This misty Wednesday morning, a song pops into my mind:
Wednesday Child: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUPRnDYA6Z4

***************
Whenever I slip, stumble...fall
I always bounce back just like..'DARUMA DOLL'
Because I have true 'KALAYANAMITTAs'..to help me along
This long journey to NIBBANA, I sing the Buddhas' songs!

Yesterday I read about 'to avoid evil
To do good, to purify.. the mind'
Which is the advice of all the Buddhas
So we can leave all the sorrows.. behind

We should observe 5 or 8 Precepts everyday
And try to keep them almost perfect..and true
At first it might be kind of hard
As years go by...more easy to do

Uposatha days, I used to hide tv remote control
So I never watched tv or.. listened to music
Now I don't have to hide it anymore
Sila-cetana sinks into my brain..like magic

Meditation in the morning and night always
Turn on pretty color-lights for Buddhas while I pray
