Dear Members,
This Saturday, I proudly present Wat Phra-That Doi-Suthep , one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand.

Everytime I/Tep went to Chieng-mai, north of Thailand, the first thing we did was to walk up the very long way to the top of the mountain and when we saw the beautiful temple suddenly our fatigue disappeared. According to the history, my dear Thera Chaiyavongsa played the important part in building the beautiful king-serpent stairs up with the help of his mountain people followers. The golden stupa had the Buddha relics inside...very exquisite temple indeed...when I was there..so many US/European tourists that the big DONATION BOX(made of glass) was filled with international currency.
Love Doi-Suthep Temple,

I have been to the temple of Kruba Chaiyawongsa in Lamphun, but I don't think he was associated with Doi Suthep temple. Instead, it was an earlier generation Lanna monk, Kruba Srivichai, who is regarded as a bodhisattva figure in northern Thailand:

You're right again! But Thera Chaiyavongsa was Kruba Srivichai's favorite novice so he was part of building the serpent stairs too. I'll read Thera Chaiyavongsa 's book again(he gave Tep when we both went to pay respect to him and stayed 1 night at his temple 'Phra-Bart-Huey-Tom'....He gave Tep..kammadhana 'rupa anicca'. We gave the Thera a big white furry rug for him to sit meditation(bought from the mall in College Station,USA). I'll post my dear Thera story real soon..love love him.
Tep so loved the Thera..wished to stay longer but Texas A&M sent Tep to help Chulalongkorn Univ to upgrade Industrial Engineering Curriculum...he had to work. Tep donated his whole month paycheck from Chula Univ. to the Thera Chaiyavongsa.
Love Thera Chaiyavongsa
