Hello everybody,
I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and decided it was time to join the forums (and hopefully contribute on occasion!) To briefly introduce myself, I've been practicing Buddhism (in the mildest sense of the word) for about 7 years, but I'm slowly working towards deepening my practice. If anyone has any advice on dealing with laziness (imo my biggest fetter) besides the Kusita-Arambhavatthu sutta, I would love to know about it! Looking forward to getting hit with some knowledge
With peace, love, and happiness,
Subha

Re: Hello everybody
Welcome Subha! Asubha contemplations might be in order to arouse a sense of samvega but this should really only be done under the tutelage of a competent teacher. May you find what you are looking for here!
To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.

Welcome Subha!
If you meant laziness in regularly sitting for meditation, then perhaps you should begin again with just a regular 10 minutes of sitting. It may be worth your while attending a 10 day Retreat to get you going again.

Welcome Subha!
This passage has always inspired a sense of urgency in me:
This passage has always inspired a sense of urgency in me:
"These are the roots of trees, O monks, these are empty huts. Meditate, monks, do not be negligent, or else you will regret it later. This is our instruction to you.” ~ AN 7:70
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

Re: Hello everybody
Some good suggestions here already. Sometimes I find that going for a long ( mindful! ) walk gets me feeling more energetic.Subha wrote:Hello everybody,

Snp 2.10: Utthana Sutta
http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka ... .than.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A stirring exhortation to rekindle your efforts. Wake up!
Arise! Sit up!
Of what use are your dreams?
How can you who are sick
And pierced with the arrow of grief
Continue to sleep?
Arise! Sit up!
Train yourself to win peace.
Let not the king of death,
Knowing you to be lazy,
Trick you into his realm.
Cross over this attachment,
Tied to which both gods and men are trapped.
Do not let this chance slip by,
Because for those who do,
There is only hell.
Dusty is indolence.
Dust comes in its wake.
With knowledge and vigilance,
Draw out the arrow of suffering from yourself.
