Retrofuturist has stepped down as administrator

Post by Ben »

Dear members,

It is with great sadness that I am announcing that Retrofuturist has stepped down from the role of Administrator here at Dhamma Wheel. Both David Snyder (site owner) and Retro invited me to 'trade places'. I have agreed to take on the role of Admin so long as I can return the role to Retro if and when he wishes to serve in that capacity again.

As of yesterday, Retro requested an indefinite leave of absence from Dhamma Wheel.

I have known Retro since e-Sangha and have met him several times when I was living in Ballarat and had him come to stay with me and my family in Tasmania. During that period, Retro has been a good friend and kalayanamitta. And I don't think I am the only one who also regards Retro as someone who has made a profound positive impact on them.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Retro who has been a key architect of Dhamma Wheel since before its inception. Dhamma Wheel - the world's most vibrant internet discussion forum dedicated to the Theravada - is largely a result of Retro's vision and dedication.
kind regards,

Ben

I for one welcome our new benevolent overlord!

And I will forgive retro for trading places, so long as he continues his healthy volume of posting. How about it, mate? (I had an ausi accent when I thought that ;) )

I recall retro from the E-Sangha days as the most (or perhaps the only) level-headed administrator there. I really admire the integrity and professionalism he brings to his duties on the fora. for helping start Zen Forum International and Dharma Wheel. He is a true bodhisattva, though he might not like the epithet.

I hope you use this hiatus to further your practice and wish you all the best, Paul.

Thanks, Retro, for all you have done here.
You have earned a break, but do drop in and say hello occasionally.

Didn't you have a knife at his throat once, Ben? I call shenanigans! ;)

Yes, in fact Ben had to flee Victoria, when Retro's mob retaliated.

It was big in the news here - "The rival factions of Theravada in a bloody struggle for power".

Looks like Ben aka the Tassie Devil, got the upper hand in the end...

Yes, shenanigans indeed!
The incident was following the muesli slice and before the coconut curry.
My young son captured the moment.
Now where is that photo?

Well done Retro,

Thanks for your hard work and dedication to Dhamma wheel. I have known you since esangha and I feel a kinship in the Dhamma.

Take care
