There is a monk's name - Pannavuddho.
What is the meaning?
How to write it correctly - with double "dd" or with one "d" only?
Thanks for help in advance -)

Re: Question
The first part is most likely: Paññā (wisdom), but not sure what the second part is.
vaddha = growth or increase, as in increase in paññā (but that is a different spelling)

Re: Question
Hi,
I agree with David on the first part. It could be "paññā" (wisdom) as well as "pañña" (wise or endowed with knowledge). The second part could be a form of "vuḍḍha".
vuḍḍha = old (fig. venerable)
Since the second part "vuḍḍho" seems to be the adjective I think the first part may be a noun, thus "Paññāvuḍḍho" could be translated as "vernerable wisdom" or something like that.
However my Pali is not good... just my 2 cents
best wishes, acinteyyo

Re: Question
Excellent, so it looks like I got it right on this one.
Thanks Bhante and for the links too.

Re: Question
Thanks for information,
But I was also told there is a variant that "vuddho" is in reality "vudho" (one "d") from a word "avudho".
