Re: metta meditation
Greetings,
From memory, Fig Tree organised a similar thing at E-Sangha. It would be worth harnessing his thoughts and experiences.
As for the suggestion, I'm all for members taking the initiative to do things like this.
Metta,
Retro.

I'm game Zach. Let's do it!
To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.

Re: metta meditation
you can search the happiest day of your life on facebook.
but for this, for now, why doesn't anyone who is interested say so, and if some people are, we can make an announcement of the date and time, sometime this month?

Hello altar,
What about the different time-zones? In Brisbane it is now 9.45 a.m. ... but in London it is 12.45 a.m. and in New York it's 7.43 p.m.

I agree Altar. But the trick with these things is to make it immediately accessible to everyone- and attractive.altar wrote:you can search the happiest day of your life on facebook.

This problem IMO is unavoidable- short of having meditation sessions to suit every time zone. Maybe to begin with Altar should choose a time zone suitable and convenient for himself- a weekend might attract more people- and proceed with it. As for numbers, I think if it becomes a regular occurrence- say once a month- it will snowball and numbers will gradually go up. I think it is a great idea- who knows perhaps one daywhen we have enough people on board there will be always someone radiating metta, right around the clock!

Re: metta meditation
Hi Mateesha,
My timezone is UTC -5.
So..... that means England time - 5.
Where are you others from?
I am in the NJ suburbs not too far from New York City. When I "develop my camera" maybe I will post a picture or two.
And Mike Khalil-Bodhi is in NY!
Btw, here is that site. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54655394764 and they have a site called lovingsilence.org as well.
Right now as I am editing this post, the time is just before 7 after noon. And I think it will show the time it is edited on the side. Metta is loving-kindness. Please all are welcomed, maybe this week or the following one we can schedule a meditation.
