Greetings all,

In order to enable all Buddhist practitioners to share their perspectives and insights in relation to world events, regardless of their political orientation, we have created a News, Current Events & Politics section for your use.

:reading:

Modelled on the analogous section at the Dharma Paths forum, the News, Current Events & Politics area will house much of the subject material that previously found its way through to the Lounge. If for any reason you find discussion on news, current events and politics to be a disturbance to your practice, you are welcome to contact myself or David and we will hide this forum from your view so you can customise your Dhamma Wheel experience more effectively.

In conjunction with this change, the Engaged Buddhism (左翼佛教) section has been dissolved, with its existent topics moved across to the appropriate sections of the forum.

If you have any questions about these changes, by all means please ask.

Metta,
Paul. :)

While the "Engaged Buddhism" section may be gone, assimilated into the new political section here, as a passing note, the use of the Chinese ideographic writing (左翼佛教) -- "left wing Buddhism" -- denoting a political slant is not quite correct as an expression of the scope and expression of engaged Buddhism in the West (or at least the US), nor of Thích Nhất Hạnh, who coined the expression "Engaged Buddhism" as a way of characterizing his response to the suffering he encounter in Vietnam during the war.
