While not condoning what the Trump administration did, this sort of thing isn’t unprecedented. Back in 2011 Fox News was critical of the way President Obama allowed bankers to enrich themselves through his bailout of Wall Street. The result being...

Are we all suppose to adhere to Shepard Smith's definition of fake news? Since the FBI initiated the contact with Priebus, informing him that CNN's and the NY Times's tying President Trump's campaign to the Russians was totally unsubstantiated and BS, Priebus's subsequent request that it inform the press of the same is hardly as menacing as the leftist mainstream media presents it. CNN's reporting is bias to the point of dishonesty; and this, it seems to me, is what "fake news" has come to mean to most people. Mutatis mutandis the same is true for Breitbart and RT. What we're being fed is propaganda, and in order for propaganda to be effective there has to be enough truth in it to make it credible.

Hi Pulga

"Fox News Anchor Stands Up For CNN And Defines ‘Fake News’" is the name of the article rather than my words.

Hear is another article "With 'Fake News,' Trump Moves From Alternative Facts To Alternative Language

http://www.npr.org/2017/02/17/515630467 ... e-language
Now, Trump casts all unfavorable news coverage as fake news. In one tweet, he even went so far as to say that "any negative polls are fake news." And many of his supporters have picked up and run with his new definition.

In the link that mr man brought (http://www.npr.org/2017/02/17/515630467 ... e-language) they talk about how language can be shaped and it got me thinking about how the three words fake, news, and media can be interpreted differently to give what I think are importantly different meanings. If we say FAKE NEWS media we are saying that there is a commodity called fake news and there are certain media which produce it. If we say FAKE news media we are saying that there are people trying to pass themselves off as being news media but they actually are not news media at all. I think the idea of FAKE news media fits breitbart very well.....they really don't present much in the way of news but they take editorializing and try to pass it off as news......thus turning opinion into fact since editorializing is presenting of opinion where as news is supposed to be presenting of facts. Does anyone here remember the good old days when there was a bundle of sheets of paper which could be purchased cheaply at most grocery stores and at kiosks and vending machines on the street?....they were called "news papers"....and does anyone remember how they had an "editorial section" so as to clearly segregate the facts from the opinions?......in the age of internet media there is no clear segregation of these two.
Journalism: Long ago even my high school had a class on journalism.....has this bias been dropped as being irrelevant?

More fake news from the Trump camp. This time with unsubstantiated (and now refuted) claims that "Obama tapped Trump Tower".

It's pretty clear to me that what Trump calls fake news is anything that is critical of him, while it is actually Trump that is the main purveyor of straight out lies and distortions (actual fake news).

It has absolutely not been disproven, and if there is fire anywhere in this alleged mess, believe me, you're going to see multiple casualties from both the current and former administration. This is a disaster for everyone.

"Project Veritas"---what a total load of Bullsh*t.
It's propaganda, obviously.
First thing you do is denigrate those who report the truth, if your goal is to create a post-truth world, in which what you say is never challenged.
God Dam Trump is doing that. How stupid do you have to be to not see it clearly?

Just like a shell game. It's a standard move from Trump's bag of tricks, used to deflect attention from issues he'd rather not address, i.e., Russiagate.

No, it absolutely has been disproven. Obama (or any President) cannot order a wire tap to be placed on anyone on a whim.

So where's the evidence that Obama ordered a wire tap on Trump Tower?

Thank-you.
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Conspiracy theorist and radio host Alex Jones was pressured to air an apology for his role in spreading the false “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory, which led to a Jones listener firing a gun inside a Washington, D.C. pizzeria. Jones aired a pre-taped video in which he acknowledged that he made commentary about the pizzeria owner that “in hindsight I regret, and for which I apologize to him.”
To my knowledge today, neither Mr. Alefantis, nor his restaurant Comet Ping Pong, were involved in any human trafficking as was part of the theories about Pizzagate that were being written about in the media outlets and which we commented upon.

Greetings,

Here's an explanation for media bias that's more charitable and plausible than most...

"It is natural that one who knows and sees things as they really are is disenchanted and dispassionate." (AN 10.2)

Interestingly, the founder of Media Matters, David Brock, also happens to be the ex-boyfriend of Mr. Alefantis. Co-incidence? You decide...
