Can anyone recommend specific print editions of Sutta translations into German? I am looking for physical books. And it would be great if you could attest to the quality as well.

Thanks!

There are NO teachings of the Buddha easy to be gained in line with Dhamma and your welfare in German language, but it is't just a matter of giving at first place. Althought you wouldn't, here a tiny door to work on you conditions:

http://www.zugangzureinsicht.org/html/index.html

But since you mind is directed to consume and demand for it, might even not relexe if pointed on it, you may stay caught in the wheels of trade. So don't worry, those who invest into serving your desires will come soon. Just be patient, and you will get it even for "free".

The first section, Vinaya, you may get here "free": http://theravada-gemeinschaft-deutschland.de

Generosity is something totally destroyed in this land, so it is nearly everywhere else and the trade with Dhamma actually arose in this county... so really not lucky, or?

Nyanaponika and Khema made trade with Juwels also in this field Salonfähig and the business is good controlled by their disciples, you would get zensured and kicked out if disturbing the business. Stinginess and envy is not easy to abound.

Online, but not to share as Dhamma-Dana, just for consuming, the Mahavaga: http://www.satinanda.de/literatur/mahavagga-text.htm
And they made a promise, that if you give them Dana, they will release further books of vinaya for you personal consume.

Since possible a trader your self, you may choose also the (public) left wing part by visiting http://abhidhamma.de for more.

The original trader assembling is found in the secound link. How ever you prefer to invest and give into trade.

Some books and hand of leaves, you may gain by requesting via wat metta, or dhammatalks.org even as a hard copy, like generously given by Upasika Keathi at one time:

Itivuttaka, von Bhante Thanissaro (übersetzt von Upasika Kaethi Pavoni)
http://sangham.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item498

Khunddakapāṭha, Bhante Thanissaro (übersetzt von Kaethi Pavoni)
http://sangham.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item499

Anguttara Nikaya (aus Hand voll Blätter), Thanissaro Bhikku, übersetzt von Käthi
http://sangham.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item496

The path is one of right choices, step by step.

Hardcopies in German of Dhamma-Dana: https://www.dhammatalks.org/de_txt_index.html

Given to request generously via: https://www.dhammatalks.org/ebook_index.html#booklist

In certain cases, you are also given to make merits in printing books as you are inspired, to invest in good conditions, and not bond to consume you old merits off.

For new releases in "poor" quality, look always here: http://sangham.net/index.php/topic,621.0.html

One is given to share and multiply ones merits given here how ever one may be able.

Anumodana
It's not clear if the possibility to take on form here is given, so also this post might be made on merely uncomfortable trust. Please don't be shy to make remark as well as to do what ever with the post you might be inspired to. Key is found here. May it be, how ever, understood as Dhamma-Dana toward the Sangha of Buddhas Savakas and those following them and not thought for any kind of trade or exchange for low purpose for the world. Feel also always welcome here.

As for the Majjhima Nikaya I will highly recommend Kay Zumwinkel, "Die Lehrreden des Buddha aus der Mittleren Sammlung", (Uttenbühl 2001). This translation is one of the better into any European language
