Vinnana- “consciousness” is classified into 89 different types and there, currently, is a discussion going on about the “consciousness” of an arahant. I’ll link it for you in a sec - albeit worth saying the vinnana of an unbound arahant is qualifiable - and thus your question is a moot point. Your question makes sense, but it doesn’t contradict reality.

There are arguments for and against. I happen to be on the “for” side. An arahant enters and emerges from Nibbana mindfully, IMHO.
