The doors described in the Aṭṭhakanāgarasutta are what the successful development of satipaṭṭhāna will culminate in.
Isn't walking meditation a part of Satipathana?
How do you practice walking meditation?
To me, earth touching the foot is no difference to air touching my nose.
The breath is a gateway to sub-conscious, you can consciously change your breath, take long or short breaths, but if you stop this, the breath will function at sub conscious level. You don’t have to think I have to breath, your breath will just resume its normal function. Walking functions at the conscious level you have to send a message to leg to take a step. There is a difference, and it is not taught in some traditions as a early stage object.

Ven. Vijithanada advise his new meditators to practice walking meditation until they feel sleepy.
If they continue practice even if they feel sleepy then they will win the fifth Mara.Thina Middha (sloth)
When you go beyond the fifth Mara you win your first battle.
ie: Elimination of five hindrances and attain Jhana (Rupavacara Jhana).
Please note that this Jhana attainment is the result of Vipassana not Samatha!
However if you feel sleepy while listening to a Dhamma talk you cant go beyond the sleepiness.
