Information on that website looks, at least in part, to be s/w out-of-date.
Specifically, under Menu "Mahasi" --> "World Wide Meditation" is listed:
" Theravada Buddhist Society of America
Ven. U Silananda (Aggamaha Pandita)
http://www.tbsa.org
17450 South Callibro Hwy
Half Moon Bay, CA 94014
Tel: (415) 726-7604"
Sayadaw Silananda appears to have begun his work in this area there at Half Moon Bay (a town on the coast between San Francisco and San Jose /Silicon Valley California), but later in the 1990s and 2000s he organized, was abbot at the Tathatgata Meditation Center (http://www.tathagata.org/) in San Jose, up to his death about 10 years ago.
The TMC monastery / retreat center is still going strong, under Sayadaw Thuzana. It's part of the Pandita Dharma network, which could be said to be related to Sayadaw Mahasi. Sayadaw Pandita used to lead 40-day retreats there every year. (I saw him there when he showed-up, unscheduled, at the Vesak day celebration, a couple of years ago.)
Why this center would not show-up in a list of Burmese Buddhist centers...?
(Slightly in not relating to New York)

Thank you, but that website as stated appears to be very dated,no real information on where to get instruction on the method.

Give the Bergen Street NY centre a call on Tel: (718) 622-8019 to get up-to-date information.
Such centres often cater primarily for the Burmese community, but I lived for several years with Sayādaw U Paññāthia who is still listed as one of the monks there. His English is plenty good enough to teach westerners. I edited his book "A Way to Social Harmony" decades ago.

You could always contact Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu in Ontario Canada. His monastery is a few hours drive from NYC.
