Yogavacara's Manual

Post by pilgrim »

I just recently learned of the existence of this meditation manual.

"The single rare Pali and Sinhalese manuscript was discovered in 1893 at Bamabara-walla Vihara in Sri Lanka by Anagarika Dharmapala. T.W. Rhys Davids of the Pali Text Society translated the text into English in 1896. It was later translated by F.L. Woodward as "Manual of a Mystic".

It appears to be the pre-cursor or at least have some common ground with the Dhammakaya method of meditation.

I bought this from pariyatti without realizing there's no English translation. Guess I'll read it when/if I learn pali.
Born, become, arisen – made, prepared, short-lived
Bonded by decay and death – a nest for sickness, perishable
Produced by seeking nutriment – not fit to take delight in

Departure from this is peaceful – beyond reasoning and enduring
Unborn, unarisen – free from sorrow and stain
Ceasing of all factors of suffering – stilling of all preparations is bliss
