Copying CDs from library

Post by Digity »

Do you think it's stealing to take out a CD from a library then copy the tracks to your computer? I don't really have a reliable CD player to use, so copying them to my computer and getting the mp3s is the next logical thing to do. However, what about after I return the CD to the library? Should I delete the tracks or is it stealing at that point?

You would need to check the laws of your country to find the answer to this, and things keep on changing in this area:

Greetings Digity,

Many of the ethical issues would be comparable to those discussed in this topic...

Does illegal downloading violate the 2nd precept?

There's 18 pages of discussion already in the aforementioned topic, so I'm sure you'll find plenty that's relevant to this situation.

Metta,
Paul. :)

I deleted the mp3s off my computer after I returned the CD back to the library.
