Hello All,
I've just started a club on Facebook for people interested in observing the uposatha and discussing the benefits and challenges of doing so amidst the business of modern, "Western" life. Just search for Uposatha Observance Club on FB and I'll add you to the club. The next uposatha according to the Thai Dhammyut calendar is the 12th of October. Let me know what you think and advance apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place.
Metta,
Mike

I'm bumping this thread just in case anyone is interested in having a virtual community with whom they can observe the upcoming uposatha. And don't forget Anapanasati Day on 2 November. Here's the link again: : http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1 ... 279&ref=mf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi Khalil,
Like Ben I'm not big on Facebook. Any thoughts to having a sticky thread year as a Uposatha Club / Resource? We tried on another forum in the past but it fizzled.

I'm not quite sure how that would work (I suppose we'd need to ask a moderator) but I'm game for anything you have in mind. Mettaya.

Re: Uposatha Observance Club
Hello Everyone,
I'm just writing to find out if there would be any interest in starting a thread here for those of you who don't use Facebook but would still like to have the support of a virtual community to observe the uposatha. Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested and I'll create and maintain a thread accordingly.
Metta,
Mike
P.S.
If there is interest and any moderators know of a better way to accomplish this please don't hesitate to take the reins...

Here is the Uposatha calender for 2010, following the Thai Mahanikaya moon days (the standard Thai calender also followed in most Western monasteries):
