Thanissaro Bhikkhus Talks...

Post by Myotai » Thu Oct 09, 2014 11:55 am

Just looking at the Gigabytes of Thanissaro Bhikkhu talks that are available.

Are there any 'must haves'?

I am downloading all of 2012 and 2013 to drop into my phone...just wondered what your thoughts were?

Thanks...

Thanissaro has a lot of wisdom throughout his talks so you can't really go wrong. It's hard for me to say that there are any must haves as what might really resonate with you today, could fall flat tomorrow. What might impact you, might not get to someone else. He covers a wide variety of dhamma related topics, so you should be able to benefit from any of the talks really.

I have downloaded just about all of Thanissaro's talks. I would put about 10-20 on my ipod at a time and listen to the entire playlist at least a few times until the concepts are well familiar before moving on to the next batch. I have cycled through all of them, and in my opinion they are all worth listening to. I especially like his various talks on breath meditation practice. Enjoy :)

I'm guessing that you are listening to the evening talks from his monastery. There are longer talks, usually given in retreat/study group situations which can be found on other websites.
e.g.:

The longer format allows for more more detailed exposition. There are usually Q&A periods, which can be instructive.

Wow THANK YOU for this post!!!
The world is swept away. It does not endure...
The world is without shelter, without protector...
The world is without ownership. One has to pass on, leaving everything behind...
The world is insufficient, insatiable, a slave to craving.
