Nibbana under the effect of ayahuasca

Post by Panegalli » Wed Jun 04, 2014 5:47 pm

I just want to raise the topic on ayahuasca, I know a person that has attained nibbana under its influence, maybe it would be a good discussion of on the 5th precept. What would you say about it?

And that person is still in Nibbana out of its influence?

How do they manifest this?
What leads either you or him to definitely ascertain it is Nibbana?

I wouldn't trust to it, myself. I would prefer to attain 'Nibbana' under my own steam, not rely on some potentially mind-altering substance to do the work for me.

not to be recommended....

Ok, but reality is always reality, and if it is useful to take ayahuasca, i think it should be recommended.

Then you stand isolated.

The 5th precept clearly advises against it.

Reality is not reality.

There, you are much mistaken; if that is the perception this substance gives you, it's back to the drawing board....

Here's a monk (Ven. Pannobhasa) who did Ayahuasca:

http://thebahiyablog.blogspot.ca/2013/1 ... uasca.html

It's difficult to say whether what is experienced when drinking Ayahuasca is similar to or can lead to 'Nibbana.' It's certainly a transcendent state of some kind.. but Nibbana is rarely described as having any content-- there are no snakes, no gods, no visions of the past or future, no vacillation from torment to ecstacy-- while the Ayahuasca experience is bursting with imagery and dynamism.. and there's certainly a lot of suffering involved while going through it..

I'm planning to do Ayahuasca this September, but I am not expecting it to make me any more enlightened-- I'm just looking to give my habits a shake.
