Experience with concentration meditation?

Experience with concentration meditation?

Is it like working out, your concentration becomes stronger after a while? I know there's a million ways to do concentration meditation and also a million different interpretations of seminal theravada meditation texts, but i was just wondering about personal experience, eg; how long have you done concentration meditation, how do you do concentration meditation, what are the results, do the concentration hold or stay with you even if you stop meditating for a week? etc

It is a little like working out, but it is at least as much about developing appropriate attitudes as it is about developing raw strength and new capabilities.
