Also see this blog post. The first generation of bhikkhunis are Mahayana nuns, while the next generation have been accepted into the Theravada sangha.
"The younger bhikkhunis were given ordination at Panna Vihara by the senior sangha members, Mahayana bhikkhunis. Then they were accepted by the sangharaja (head monk) of one of the two branches of Cambodian Buddhism as his disciples. Thus they took ordination from Cambodian bhikkhus in the Theravada lineage, quietly bridging the two traditions. Now the whole sangha wears Theravada robes, and many of the chants are in Pali,"
