30 hours without any sleep and counting
30 hours without any sleep and counting
My mother is worried. I am not. I am not sleepy either. I didn't sleep the whole night, it's now 6:48PM. And I feel like I could go on forever. (That's how I feel, though I'll probably fall asleep tonight.) All I've taken is paracetamol, which contained caffeine, but come on, this is weird. Lay down in the afternoon to try to sleep with Sleep playlist on, but gave up after 20 minutes and got up. I guess the question could be: is this unhealthy?

Stefan,
I think you should contact your therapist (if you have one). You may be having a manic episode (I'm no professional though). Please contact a mental health professional and stay away from stimulants in the interim. Wishing you every good blessing, health and peace!

As I said, I'm no expert. 30 hours without feeling tired is definitely beyond normal. I'm concerned and think you should speak with a professional. You will, however, do as you want. Be well.

Thanks again. I tried calling a health carer but no reply and the GP surgery have closed, too. Do you think I should call A&E?

Yes, I would. I'm concerned about the trembling. Drink some water and just rest for a bit too.

Re: 30 hours without any sleep and counting
manic episode starts with lack of sleep, after 30 hours you may not feel manic YET, but as it progresses you will get manic if you don't get sleep, anyone will get manic if they go long enough without sleep.
18 years ago I made one of the most important decisions of my life and entered a local Cambodian Buddhist Temple as a temple boy and, for only 3 weeks, an actual Therevada Buddhist monk. I am not a scholar, great meditator, or authority on Buddhism, but Buddhism is something I love from the Bottom of my heart. It has taught me sobriety, morality, peace, and very importantly that my suffering is optional, and doesn't have to run my life. I hope to give back what little I can to the Buddhist community, sincerely former monk John

Thanks for the advice! I don't know if it's as serious for A&E, but I don't have anyone else to call. I'll just lie down in bed hoping I'll simply nod off. Maybe take a warm shower before that.Khalil Bodhi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 7:26 pm Yes, I would. I'm concerned about the trembling. Drink some water and just rest for a bit too.

Give them a call and try to nod off in the meanwhile. Let us know how it works out. Take care!

Stiphen if you are in the UK can call 111 NHS direct
Re: 30 hours without any sleep and counting
Just called them. Waited 10 minutes to speak to a professional. She asked lots of questions and then just told me to call the GP in the morning.
My body is starting to slow down and ache, but still not feeling drowsy. Just a long warm shower and a Falling-asleep guided meditation should do.

Re: 30 hours without any sleep and counting
Greetings Stiphan,
Either way, take care!
I'm DJing back to back on the nights of December 30 and New Year's Eve, so I'm predicting a period of not much sleep for me soon.
Thankfully I've managed to arrange the set times for December 30, so I'll be finished by 11.45 p.m. Unfortunately, on the morning of December 31st, I'll have to wake up pretty early and it could be a very late night, but I'll make it work.
I hope your sleeping patterns return to normal soon!
Metta,
Paul.
