Google smoking cessation class in your area or speak to your doctor for resources. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do other than encourage you to do and not be afraid of the challenge to quit. Smoking is a bad habit but its not the end of the world. :anjali:

Smoking habit is certainly a tough one to abandon. But it's totally possible if one has strong enough determination and effort to follow through. Use all the helps from all the sources possible: your doctor, your loved ones, various internet professional sites and resources, and finally the wise advices of the Buddha in MN 20. Good luck!

I used to smoke even though it for a shorter period. Say about five years.
One day I felt some sound from my loungs.
I immediately decided to quit and never smoke again. Say 25 years.
Just go cold turkey.

pm me a facebook account if u have one
Born, become, arisen – made, prepared, short-lived
Bonded by decay and death – a nest for sickness, perishable
Produced by seeking nutriment – not fit to take delight in

Departure from this is peaceful – beyond reasoning and enduring
Unborn, unarisen – free from sorrow and stain
Ceasing of all factors of suffering – stilling of all preparations is bliss

Try this supplement: https://www.gnc.com/homeopathic-product ... Id=2526900

It's called Clear Lungs, and it's a very effective herbal formula for healing your lungs from the damage done by smoking. You'll breathe better than you have in ages. I've tried it myself.

Nothing will help you quit smoking quite like the feeling of having healthy lungs again.

1. Dont buy it any more. If you know that you have it - you will want it.
2. Avoid people who smoke (until you will be free, perhaps 1 month or more or less), if you know that they have cigarets you will want it and ask for it
3. Try to separate ocations while you used to smoke (morning, after eat, cofee, alcohol ..)from smoking
4. Do sport

It can be hard at the beginning, but if you lose one battle and re-smoke , you will regret it, you will be depressed, you will lose your motivation, you will re-smoke. But if you win your battles with a temptation you will be proud of you, you will be happy because of not smoking, it will bring you more energy in future battles at these battles will be less painful, until you will lose all temptation to smoke !

Anyway I stoped to smoke or drink like this, even on party while every body smoking and drinking ...

Good luck !
And don't be wake ..

"After my first vipassana, I quit smoking. After my second, I quit booze. After my third, I made peace with my dad. I didn't have to work at these things, the desire to smoke and drink just went away, along with the desire to stay pissed at pops."

I have quit smoking many of times :)

I can tell you it can be done!

10 Goenka Vipassana is incredibly helpful - as a tool to put yourself in an environment to give up.

In fact, with my last retreat, I gave up coffee + porn + sleeping late + smoking.

The noting exercise by Mahasi and the mindful practice of observing feelings and thoughts helps so much too, you can disidentify from the impulse of smoking.

Lastly take it ONE day at a time, when you decide to quit - don't wait until you pack finishes, at once break the pack and throw it in the garbage.

You will notice if you have a new pack this will bring up strong resistance. I have thrown away so many brand new packs of cigarettes (and drugs and liquor) you would not believe -

Pm me if you need any other tips :)

PS. Another famous book which I have read is "easy way to stop smoking by allen carr " I have known many people including myself read that once and stoped for months if not forever. You may wana try that, gives you a new perspective that smoking doest actually feel good until you are addicted. The author explains how nicotine addiction is like an itch on your back, and it feels good to get rid of an itch but it actually creates suffering and trains one to feel good by getting rid of it - so in this new perspective somehow its easier to give it up .

SUMMARY:

1. Get very clear why you want to quit - list all the shit and chemicals in a cigarette and your why
2. Write a letter to yourself and to a cigarette, thank it for the joy you had and simply break up with it
3. Announce your decision to 2 partners and get them to help you - if you feel weak you are to message them so they can remind you of why you are quitting
4. Set a date for 30 days or 90 days - and focus only to reach that date, then renew and make a decision to quit for good.
5. Read the book "how to stop smoking the easy way"
6. Get to other forums with people who are quitting and read their success stories - especially when you feel urges and tempted. When you feel tempted to smoke - all you can think of is the pleasure but if you become aware of why you are quitting (by reading others positive benefits of more energy, more joy and more peace , your brain will drop the idea because it realizes there is a better prize around the corner)
7. Throw away all your cigarettes and anything that reminds you of it
8. Replace the habit with something healthy - get some tasty snacks that you really like to eat - carry cinnamon sticks or something healthy and chew on them all day.
9. Start a WIN - HOF cold shower routine - this really helps to rewire your mind and get your mind clear - increases your mood and well being. when triggered to smoke go do the win hof breathing - this helped me so much actually - you learned with a few deep breaths you will change your mental fogginess and feel different.
10. Keep a journal and record every thing - if you go for 10 days and relapse - jouranl how you felt befor and after, and why you are trying again, make notes how many days did you keep smoking until you stopped again etc.
11. Be very patient with your progress - most people quit 15-17 times before they can go for years.

Using a sauna regularly has been shown to make it easier to quit smoking. Also, cordyceps mushroom is good for the lungs and oxygen absorbtion
A dying man can only rely upon his wisdom, if he developed it. Wisdom is not dependent upon any phenomenon originated upon six senses. It is developed on the basis of the discernment of the same. That’s why when one’s senses start to wither and die, the knowledge of their nature remains unaffected. When there is no wisdom, there will be despair, in the face of death.
