Modern Books about Vinaya

Post by khemindas » Fri Sep 14, 2018 3:45 pm

I think many people are interested in books on Vinaya topic, especially monks, so nowadays very famous and popular book on this topic from Thanissaro Bhikkhu - The Buddhist monastic code

But unfortunately these two volumes does not cover all questions completely. So I think it's good, that anyone can share other books here, which he knows. For example here next Books:

1) The essentials principles in Vinaya in two volumes (from Myanmar ITBMU university)
I volume ... vinaya.pdf
II volume ... MDE5OX0%3D
2) Buddhist canon law (author Ashin Awbartha from Myanmar)

Thank you very much, Bhante.

Here is Ven. Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu's updated (July 17, 2017) and combined version of the Buddhist Monastic Code I & II—which also has links for much easier navigation:
(in the future, it would be better to search the site instead, for a more recently updated version)

The six volumes of I.B. Horner's The Book of Discipline: ... f?raw=true

Ajahn Brahmavamso's Vinaya notes (a few decades old—not completely reliable, but occasionally useful): ... _Notes.pdf

Buddhist Monk's Discipline by Bhikkhi Khantipālo (introductory essay):
