Women's monasteries, hermitages, communities?

Post by philosopher » Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:42 am

I'd like to investigate situations for staying long term in a monastic setting. I'd like to start with places in CA, and then branch out to the rest of the US and the world. I am particularly interested in places where there are permanent or long-residing nuns, but it's not mandatory.Any recommendations would be welcome. Thank you. :anjali:

Thank you! I think you had recommended Mahapajapati before; I visited last year - it was wonderful. Thank you. I will check out Dhammadharini when I'm able. :anjali:

If you're interested in Northern California, there's Aloka Vihara: https://alokavihara.org/

Weather is nicer for my tastes (I am biased of course because I live in Norcal). :anjali:

In Perth, Ontario, Canada, there is Sati Sārāņīya Hermitage.

On the Sonoma Coast near Jenner, California: Aranya Bodhi Hermitage.

There is also the directory from the Alliance for Bhikkhunis.
