What is the difference between a monastic and a lay person?

Lay people work hard and feed the ignorant.
Monks are feed by the ignorant and tech them how to be wise.
What is the difference between a monastic and a lay person?

Precepts is a big one i suppose. and different life goal. most lay buddhists are just aiming to improve thier existence, while monastics usually focus on ending their existence

a shaved head and a uniform? On a serious note, it'd take time and thorough investigation to really tell the difference, for there're monastics who act, speak, and think like lay people, and lay folks who act, speak, and think like monastics.SarathW wrote:What is the difference between a monastic and a lay person?
