milestone for western Theravada:

Post by paul »

This year 2018 is Bikkhu Bodhi's 45th year of monkhood:

"In 1967, while still a graduate student, Bodhi was ordained as a samanera (novice monk) in the Vietnamese Mahayana order.[2] In 1972, after graduation, Bodhi traveled to Sri Lanka where, under Ven. Ananda Maitreya,[3] he received novice ordination and, in 1973, he received full ordination in a Theravada order."---Dhammawiki

Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu!

Let us commemorate this milestone by giving homage to Venerable Bodhi, and wish him success in all his ventures. Let's hope many more follow his path to defeat dukkha and disseminate the teachings in the Buddha's dispensation.

??

Did you misread? Or am I missing something?
"Does Master Gotama have any position at all?"

"A 'position,' Vaccha, is something that a Tathagata has done away with. What a Tathagata sees is this: 'Such is form, such its origination, such its disappearance; such is feeling, such its origination, such its disappearance; such is perception...such are fabrications...such is consciousness, such its origination, such its disappearance.'" - Aggi-Vacchagotta Sutta

'Some fart freely, some try to hide and silence it. Which one is correct?' - Saegnapha

I did misread, sorry! Bhikkhu Bodhi is the forerunner.

And I can't edit it for some reason, so I'll just have to accept the embarrassment
