What are these Ajahn Chah sangha monks' names?

Post by Lombardi4 »

Image

I am wondering what all of these monks' names are. I recognize, of course, Ajahn Chah, Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn Brahm, and Ajahn Pasanno, but I don't recognize the rest. Especially, I would like to know the name of the monk at the rightmost of the picture.

The monk directly behind Ajahn Chah is Ajahn Anando, who was the abbot of Chithurst (& Harnham) at one time. He left the monkhood some years back. He has now passed away. To the left of him is Ajahn Viradhammo. Front right is Ajahn Khemadhammo.

Ajahn Sumedho is the tallest one, to his left is Ajahn Passano (Abhayagiri Abbott).

Thank you, Bhante, but that is the Japanese monk. What is the monk's name to the furthest left, standing to the right of Ajahn Gavesako, a bit further behind?

Just a side question.

Possibly the American monk Ajahn Santacitto (now the layman Stephen Saslav). But I'm not certain since I never got to meet Santacitto in person.

No, that's not Steve Saslav/Santacitto. He's a good friend of mine and I see him regularly.

He is rather poorly, by the way, having recently endured a gruelling round of chemotherapy. If the name means anything to anyone, he could do with some best wishes and prayers to help him.

It just occurred to me that when I see him, I can ask him who the venerable monk is.

Update!

Steve (ex Santacitto) confirms that the monk on the extreme left is not him, but is, he thinks, a monk named Puriso. He remembers him as a brilliant translator. He disrobed and married a Thai woman.

I can tell you the names of all of these monks. The one at the back far left is Puriso Bhikkhu (myself), who left the robes in 1992
