Post by DC2R »

This thread is for long-term residence opportunities at temples and monasteries.

Amaravati is looking for a groundskeeper and retreat centre office manager.
The community at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery is looking for a long-term resident who would appreciate living within a Theravadan monastic community to further their practice. We are looking for a practically minded person with skills to undertake the role as Groundskeeper Volunteer Resident. This role includes taking responsibility for the general maintenance and appearance of the monastery’s extensive grounds, working together with the other volunteers and monastics looking after the site. This is a volunteer, residential role available from August 2017. Following a trial period of three months, the successful applicant may be invited to stay for one year initially.
Details and application
The Retreat Centre at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery is looking for someone with the skills to look after the Office Manager aspects of the Retreat Centre. They should have good office and computer skills, along with flexibility and experience working with people. People interested in this volunteer residential role should also have the interest to live within a Theravadin monastic community to further their practice.

Another one at Amaravati in England: http://www.amaravati.org/long-term-lay- ... ener-2017/
The community at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery has a space for a female long-term resident who would appreciate living within a Theravadan monastic community to further their practice.

We are looking for someone with gardening and practical skills to take responsibility for the general maintenance and appearance of the monastery’s ornamental gardens and trees, working together with the other volunteers and monastics looking after the site. This is a residential position, available from late August 2017.

Not exactly opportunities to stay at a monastery, but here are some wholesome volunteer positions for those in the UK:

Buddhist Prison Chaplain

Volunteer at the Amaravati Kathina festival 2017
