Asian forest monasteries for fully-ordained bhikkhunis? (with kutis)

Discussion of ordination, the Vinaya and monastic life. How and where to ordain? Bhikkhuni ordination etc.

Asian forest monasteries for fully-ordained bhikkhunis? (with kutis)

Post by Faelig » Mon Feb 06, 2017 10:07 am

Dear DW readers,

I am looking for some forest monasteries in Asia for fully-ordained bhikkhunis. In particular, monasteries with individual kutis in the forest.

Have you got any recommendations for such places?

Edit (some background information): A friend of mine is looking to ordain soon. She plans to spend a few months in a place which could become her place of ordination for a longer commitment. She is quite attracted by the forest tradition and a community promoting seclusion (hence the quite specific question about forest monasteries with individual kutis, but there might be other options out there...?). She traveled extensively in SE Asia and would like to ordain there (she would be interested by the western communities as well, but possibly later on)
Full ordination (rather than 8-10 precepts) is an important criterion for her at this time.
Hope this helps a bit!
Any feedbacks or advice is welcome.

Try emailing the nuns at Dhammasara monastery, in Australia. They will be able to give you the names of some places no doubt. Email the BSWA office manager on admin@bswa.org and they will give the email to the nuns.
Then,
saturated with joy,
you will put an end to suffering and stress.

Alliance for Bhikkhunis has a directory that may be of some help.
