An updated version of the WPN korwat?

Discussion of ordination, the Vinaya and monastic life. How and where to ordain? Bhikkhuni ordination etc.

An updated version of the WPN korwat?

Post by samseva » Sun Jan 19, 2014 2:14 pm

I came about the Wat Pah Nanachat korwat. I am currently preparing to ordain and it is very useful to clarify/give a general overview on some points of Vinaya and culture.

The version I have is the first edition, May 2003. Since relying on the first edition of any book is not a good idea and probably many newer editions of the korwat have been written, finding an updated version would be quite useful.

Is there an updated version of the Wat Pah Nanachat korwat?

Kind regards,

:anjali:

My one memory of that (what can only be described as a) screed is the multiple pages of instruction on how to sweep...

All the best in your endeavor...

Hello samseva,

This first edition Is the only one I know of. Maybe contact Vimutti.org.nz to see if they have updated it?

The "kor wat" (monastic rules and regulations) at each place are continually evolving responding to individuals and what the senior monks regard as important. The old WPN version should now be regarded as out of date, although most points in it will still be valid in many forest monasteries in Thailand.
