I would say , Kondanna actually realised everything that arises has no permanency therefore saw everything has an ending . Thus , the penetration of the processes gain insight into the not self nature of everything .
Thanks James. However, impermanence & not-self were taught in the 2nd sermon. If Kondañña realised not-self when listening to the 1st sermon, why did Buddha teach not-self to Kondañña during the 2nd sermon and why did Kondañña attain arahantship when hearing the 2nd sermon?

Right view is defined as knowledge of the Four Noble Truths, as Kondañña heard in the 1st sermon.

“ And what is that middle way? It is simply this noble eightfold path.

As long as my true knowledge and vision about these four noble truths was not fully purified in these three perspectives and twelve aspects,

And while this discourse was being spoken, the stainless, immaculate vision of the Dhamma arose in Venerable Koṇḍañña: “Everything that has a beginning has an end.”

Then the Buddha spoke these words of inspiration: “Koṇḍañña has really understood! Koṇḍañña has really understood!” And that’s how Venerable Koṇḍañña came to be known as “Koṇḍañña Who Understood ” .

=====================================

It seems , four noble truth was expounded and including the dependent origination .

Arising and passing away is same with impermanent .

The dhamma eye ie as a sotapanna , would realise the not self .

The sotapanna has abandoned the first three of the lower fetters: self view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and vows. (Ratanasutta Sn. 233)
