"People often get too quick to say 'there's no self. There's no self...no self...no self.' There is self, there is focal point, its not yours. That's what not self is."

Ninoslav Ñāṇamoli
Senses and the Thought-1, 42:53

"Those who create constructs about the Buddha,
Who is beyond construction and without exhaustion,
Are thereby damaged by their constructs;
They fail to see the Thus-Gone.

That which is the nature of the Thus-Gone
Is also the nature of this world.
There is no nature of the Thus-Gone.
There is no nature of the world."

A brilliant monk.

:namaste:
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

He had been bedridden for a long time. I had corresponded recently with the organization that publishes his works & they told me that he couldn't speak or write for the most part, but that he could read still at that point. I had just sent him a letter a few weeks ago with instructions in it to allow one of his students to respond if he was unable. I haven't got a response, given his passing now the timing is somewhat awkward.

There's several pages & bhikkhus on facebook posting about this but it's all in Sinhala so I don't know what they're saying.

Anyway, this is a big loss for the world.

Born, become, arisen – made, prepared, short-lived
Bonded by decay and death – a nest for sickness, perishable
Produced by seeking nutriment – not fit to take delight in

Departure from this is peaceful – beyond reasoning and enduring
Unborn, unarisen – free from sorrow and stain
Ceasing of all factors of suffering – stilling of all preparations is bliss

There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Thank you for sharing that.

"This is peaceful, this is excellent, namely the stilling of all preparations,
the relinquishment of all assets, the destruction of craving,
detachment, cessation, extinction"
