-Gratitude to teachers

Post by manas » Sat Jan 20, 2018 6:09 am

Like a moth to a flame
Has this deluded being been drawn to the sublime Dhamma
Often as if dragged against his will, almost unwillingly
Yet, little by little, more and more convinced
Every time it's evident truths are seen.

Despite my modest level of understanding
Even this much, I could not have realized by myself
But only with the assistance of teachers of virtue and wisdom -
Teachers of the Dhamma, past and present.

They set an example both by moral behaviour, and wisdom
They tolerate our muddle-mindedness, patiently striving to help us see
They take much time and trouble in doing so
To all those teachers of the Dhamma, my deep respect and gratitude.

:namaste:
From what's dear is born grief,
from what's dear is born fear.
For one freed from what's dear
there's no grief
— so how fear?

The heart of the path is so simple. No need for long explanations. Give up clinging to love and hate, just rest with things as they are. That is all I do in my own practice.

Do not try to become anything. Do not make yourself into anything. Do not be a meditator. Do not become enlightened. When you sit, let it be. When you walk, let it be. Grasp at nothing. Resist nothing.

Of course, there are dozens of meditation techniques to develop samadhi and many kinds of vipassana. But it all comes back to this-just let it all be. Step over here where it is cool, out of the battle.
