My favorite Buddha statue was bought in India, many years ago. It's only about three inches high, and I found it at a place that was selling local crafts. Looked through a lot of stuff and finally found one that spoke to me. Still have it right here as I type.

It's good to have a Buddha statue, but even better to find one.

Yesterday the person who owns the house where I live was visiting and he spotted my Buddha statue and said, "Oh nice!" and just grabbed it from the shelf above my desk and turned it over looking for a hallmark. I was :jawdrop: and :meditate: simultaneously

Making your own is always an option...
Rain soddens what is covered up,
It does not sodden what is open.
Therefore uncover what is covered
That the rain will not sodden it.

Hi Sumana
It is important that you choose the right image.
David once had a link to choose a proper image.
Please see the following link to see a proper one.

Buddha's statues are made to a standard proportion.

Just received the statue!

Time to share my new altar. I know it is very humble, but it's what I've got at the moment. Once I find my own place with more space, I will make a better altar.

The statue I bought is really beautiful, and is the biggest one I have had to date! In addition to the Buddha statues, I hold pictures of my main teachers, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi and Ven. Ajahn Brahm. In one of the pictures, you can see a replica of a leaf from the Bodhi Tree, which I got from the Samatha Trust. I also have some Dhamma books, though I used to have double that, but gave them all away (as I have them on PDF anyway).

This is the new statue up close.

And since I didn't have space for one of my statues on the altar, I put it on my desk.

Very Cool! Thanks for sharing!

:anjali:
The heart of the path is so simple. No need for long explanations. Give up clinging to love and hate, just rest with things as they are. That is all I do in my own practice.

Do not try to become anything. Do not make yourself into anything. Do not be a meditator. Do not become enlightened. When you sit, let it be. When you walk, let it be. Grasp at nothing. Resist nothing.

Of course, there are dozens of meditation techniques to develop samadhi and many kinds of vipassana. But it all comes back to this-just let it all be. Step over here where it is cool, out of the battle.

Thanks, Bodom!

And many thanks to _anicca_ for the great suggestion! I really like the statue and the size is just the one I wanted.

Thanks. I can't seem to find it there. Which company made it or rather sold it on Amazon?
