AN 3.48 Pabbatarāja Sutta. The King of Mountains.
Translated by Bhikkhu Sujato

A family is supported by their head, as a tree is supported by a mountain.
https://suttacentral.net/an3.48/

“Mendicants, great sal trees grow in three ways supported by the Himalayas, the king of mountains. What three? The branches, leaves, and foliage; the bark and shoots; and the softwood and heartwood. Great sal trees grow in these three ways supported by the Himalayas, the king of mountains.

In the same way, a family grows in three ways supported by a family head with faith. What three? Faith, ethics, and wisdom. A family grows in these three ways supported by a family head with faith.”

“Supported by the mountain crags
in the wild, awesome jungle,
the tree grows
to become lord of the forest.

So too, when the family head
is ethical and faithful,
supported by them, they grow:
children, partners, and kin,
colleagues, relatives,
and those dependent for their livelihood.

Seeing the ethical conduct of the virtuous,
the generosity and good deeds,
those who have discernment
do likewise.

Having practiced the teaching here,
the path that goes to a good place,
those who desire sensual pleasure rejoice,
delighting in the heavenly realm.”

AN 3.48 Pabbatarāja Sutta. The King of Mountains.
Translated by Bhikkhu Bodhi

A family is supported by their head, as a tree is supported by a mountain.
https://suttacentral.net/an3.48/

“Bhikkhus, based on the Himalayas, the king of mountains, great sal trees grow in three ways. What three? (1) They grow in branches, leaves, and foliage; (2) they grow in bark and shoots; and (3) they grow in softwood and heartwood. Based on the Himalayas, the king of mountains, great sal trees grow in these three ways.

“So too, when the head of a family is endowed with faith, the people in the family who depend on him grow in three ways. What three? (1) They grow in faith; (2) they grow in virtuous behavior; and (3) they grow in wisdom. When the head of a family is endowed with faith, the people in the family who depend on him grow in these three ways.”

Just as the trees that grow
in dependence on a rocky mountain
in a vast forest wilderness
might become great “woodland lords,”
so, when the head of a family here
possesses faith and virtue,
his wife, children, and relatives
all grow in dependence upon him;
so too his friends, his family circle,
and those dependent on him.

Those possessed of discernment,
seeing that virtuous man’s good conduct,
his generosity and good deeds,
emulate his example.

Having lived here in accord with Dhamma,
the path leading to a good destination,
those who desire sensual pleasures rejoice,
delighting in the deva world.

It's great to have some suttas translated by both Bhikkhu Bodhi and Bhikkhu Sujato...

Beautiful.
Having practiced the teaching here,
the path that goes to a good place,
those who desire sensual pleasure rejoice,
delighting in the heavenly realm.
"those who desire sensual pleasure" is an interesting wording here.

I would argue that those who desire sensual pleasure might not even follow this teaching.

Am I missing something?
