Ratana Sutta chanting tips?

Post by kalyana.mitta »

Does anyone have any tips to memorize the order of the verses in Ratana Sutta in Pali?(other than continuously reciting it) I have memorized each section but I can't chant the sections in the correct order without looking at the pirith book. thanks in advance.

Just keep count as you recite. After a while you will associate the first few words of a verse with its number, then the rest of the verse just follows the first few words from memory.
  1. Inviting the deities to listen
  2. Requesting them to bless the audience
  3. Buddha Ratana
  4. Dhamma Ratana
  5. Sangha Ratana
  6. Eight Noble Ones
  7. Arahants enjoy great peace
  8. Arahants are unshakeable
  9. Stream-winners are not born an eighth time
  10. Stream-winners have abandoned three lower fetters
  11. Stream-winners cannot conceal any wrong-doing
  12. The Buddha has reached the highest goal
  13. The Buddha is excellent
  14. The Arahants have extinguished all rebirth
  15. Let us praise the Buddha
  16. Let us praise the Dhamma
  17. Let us praise the Sangha
Finally, listen to a recitation that is slow, with clear and correct pronunciation.
