Maraṇānussati vs Maraṇasati

Post by Coëmgenu »

The form maraṇasati is common on the internet, however, based on my rudimentary Pāli, the compound should be built like "Buddhānussati", and indeed the wikipedia page for the ten remembrance bases has maraṇānussati.

Where does the form maraṇasati come from?

Thank you.

What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

This must be a simplified form of maraṇassati which occurs in Anguttara Nikaya and other Pali texts.
