Devanagari or Burmese Pali characters needed - help please?

Hi there, I am searching for a script representation of the Pali words "tatramajjhattata" (equanimity) and samma-sati (right awareness) and am having a terrible time trying to find this on the net!! Is there anyone who can write these for me or refer me to an online resource that has these words in proper pali characters? Or Devanāgarī script, I'm not really sure how it all works.
I am an artist and also a student of Vipassana, I'm doing some work in which I'd like to use the above words but I don't want to use the romanised characters. I presume that S.N. Goenka probably uses Burmese script but I'd be happy with Devanagari as I understand it's probably the most appropriate for what I'm doing.

Any help or direction would be very much appreciated!!

Hi Athnamas,

Devanagari script was invented in the 12th century, and has nothing to do with Pali.

The oldest preserved inscriptions in language very close to Pali (Hathigumpha and Girnar Asokan edict) were made in Brahmi script.

But Pali can be written in Devanagari, and the nice thing about Devanagari is that it is quite lovely. Can you transcribe Pali into either Devanagari or Brahmi?

Right, yes tiltbillings is correct (Dmytro please excuse my ignorance like I said I really don't know how it all works), I want beautiful Devanagali (or Burmese) script of those Pali terms to use in my works. The idea is that most people who view the work won't know what the characters even mean but will still see the beauty in the script itself. So if anyone can help me out I would be EVER so grateful :)

In Myanmar script:

"tatramajjhattatā" - တတ္ရမဇ္ဈတ္တတာ

"sammāsati" (appropriate remembrance) - သမ္မာသတိ

Tables:

http://www.omniglot.com/writing/burmese.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For Brahmi - just convert the Pali word to the Imperial Brahmi font.

Cyrillic is also awesome:

татрамадджхататта

саммасати

Roman to Devanagari

tatramajjhattatā
तत्रमज्झत्तता

sammāsati
सम्मासति

I suggest to use Firefox browser to view these Devanagari words. For me, other browsers like chrome or opera tend to distort them.

Another nice thing about Devanagari is that each letter denotes a distinct sound, and it is comparatively much easier to read in Devanagari than Roman (at least in my experience). I do not know how it compares to other scripts as I can't read other scripts besides these two.

Yaye SamKR and Dmytro thanks SO much!! That accomplished what several hours with the librarians couldn't :-)

This seems to be missing an i.

သမ္မာသတိ

Here, I am not seeing the right character below the double mm in sammā — I just see a small + sign. I guess it requires a particular font to be installed.

Sammā should look like this:

This does seem rather odd, bhante, and I don’t know why it should be. I have two Myanmarese Unicode fonts in my computer (Myanmar MN and Myanmar Sangam MN) and with both of them the word appears exactly as in your image.

my favorite transliteration tool is this one: http://spokensanskrit.de/training/transliteration.php

it is about a sanskrit site, but devanagari is common to both.

If we know what the text is, it may well be available on Tipitaka.org in any script you want.

Post a screen shot of the text, so that we can tell you if we recognise it. A few of us can read Burmese script without too much difficulty.
