The diffrence between MN 33 & PTS M i 220

Post by LamV »

Dear friends,
In citations of sutra I see two way of citation: for example MN 33 / PTS M i 220 . What the first one stands for? The second as I understand is the PTS canon in Pali.
I will appreciate your answer.

Mūlapaṇṇāsa means the first (root) fifty suttas in five chapters of ten suttas.

33 is the Sutta number, 220 is the page number, M.i. means Majjhimanikāya, Volume I.
