I am unable to recall which sutta it is where the teachers of other sects are in their assembly and asked to explain a point, their student will stand up and say not to ask it of him, he does not know, ask it of me, but when the blessed one explains something not even the sound of the clearing of the throat is heard...
I would like to read this one again but am not able to find it, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Re: Sutta help (finding certain texts)
It’s in both the Dhammacetiya Sutta (MN. 89) and Mahāsakuludāyi Sutta (MN. 77).vkasdn wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2017 2:52 am I am unable to recall which sutta it is where the teachers of other sects are in their assembly and asked to explain a point, their student will stand up and say not to ask it of him, he does not know, ask it of me, but when the blessed one explains something not even the sound of the clearing of the throat is heard...

Re: Sutta help (finding certain texts)
Hello, just wondering if anyone is able to find a sutta, it is about a low caste member who was bad at memorizing even a single verse, so the Buddha gave him a white cloth and told him to rub it between is fingers and say 'unclean' and eventually his seemingly clean hands managed to dirty the cloth, and that led to a breakthrough...not sure if it is a sutta, or commentary, but any help would be appreciated, thank you!!

It's apparently in the commentary to verse 25 of the Dhammapada:vkasdn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 5:08 pm Hello, just wondering if anyone is able to find a sutta, it is about a low caste member who was bad at memorizing even a single verse, so the Buddha gave him a white cloth and told him to rub it between is fingers and say 'unclean' and eventually his seemingly clean hands managed to dirty the cloth, and that led to a breakthrough...not sure if it is a sutta, or commentary, but any help would be appreciated, thank you!!
