Hi Kashi

I do all my Dhamma book shopping here at Pariyatti:

Theragatha and Therigatha
http://store.pariyatti.org/Theragatha-a ... _2179.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Poems of Early Buddhist Monks

Poems of Early Buddhist Nuns

Be careful...That first link above is for the PALI language edition, not a translation. The second two links are to the paper back versions of the translations without the footnotes. For devotional reading the footnotes are not essential as most of the meaning is straightforward. I highly recommend both of those.

You can also read a large selection of the verses translated by Ajahn Thanissaro on Access to insight.
http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There are also several verses done by other translators.

Ajahn Thanssaro's Thera/Therigatha verses are found in Vols. 4 and 5 of Handfull of Leaves and is available for free from the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies.

All of the non-Ajahn Thanissaro verses have been made into an e-pub/Mobi book and are available for download here:
http://readingfaithfully.org/book-sourc ... ndle-epub/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Therigatha translation by CAF Rhys Davids is available as an e-book here:
http://readingfaithfully.org/book-sourc ... ndle-epub/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It is a complete translation done in Early Modern English (think lots of thees and thous) and includes most of the verse origin stories.

friends,

so in other words the last 2 pages bodom listed, the books that are paper back, are written in english correct? so i should get the 2 separate books and not the one that includes both together because that one is in pali yes?? (fyi I cannot read pali so I need the english versions)

just making sure.

Thank you Friends

Well, it never hurts to include a message in your order to Pariyatti or the PTS reminding them you only want English books. It's such a common error.

In general with PTS, if the title given for the book is in Pali, then the language of the text will be Pali. Additionally, any of the PTS books that are shown with a red, blue, or white cover are paperback editions and in English (or English and Pali in the case of the Patimokkha).

Somewhat related, I have created a resource here http://readingfaithfully.org/buildingasuttalibrary/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that includes buying list for English translations that will get you a nearly complete collection of the oldest parts of the cannon. I checked the ISBN's and it looks like the ones linked to are the same.

I hope you enjoy these books.
