I can find support for these teachings in suttas, some of them are a little debatable, but I err on the side of approving what he has to say.
I used to think of different Buddhist traditions as different religions entirely, but I'm entertaining the opposite now. Currently listening to talk from a rinpoche. :spy:

Like many other religious, spiritual, and even secular teachers and famous people, the Dalai Lama is misquoted extensively, and has many statements attributed to him that are not actual quotes. It is prudent to use caution when evaluating random "quotes" from the internet as they are often inaccurate.

Not that the links you cited are "wrong," per se, they just aren't HHDL's words. If you are interested, he has written a number of books that are much more reliable sources for his teachings.
